The Misuse of Drugs Regulations 19731 were made in accordance with the powers granted to the Home Secretary by the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. The regulations, together with the Misuse of Drugs (Notification of and Supply to Addicts) Regulations 1973,2 came into operation on 1 July 1973. On the same date regulations 1, 2, 5, and schedule 1 of the Misuse of Drugs (Safe Custody) Regulations 19733 came into operation; the remainder will become operative on 1 October 1974.
